You Can Count On Jesus!
By David J. Stewart | April 2012
Romans 10:11, “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
More than anything, Biblical prophecy teaches us that GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES! Everything in the Christian life centers around and is based upon TRUSTING GOD, that He will do as He has committed unto us. Both secular history and the Bible evidence that all of the Messianic prophecies concerning Christ have already been fulfilled. Here are numerous non-Messianic Bible prophecies that have also been fulfilled.
Thus, we are convinced that God Who has kept all His promises thus far will continue to do so in the future. You can count on Jesus! This is exactly what Romans 10:11 means, “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” This does not means that you won't be embarrassed as a Christian, not at all. Peter was ashamed and denied Jesus three times, but Peter didn't lose his salvation. Peter afterwards wept bitterly and made his right with God as a Christian. I cringe when preachers misapply this Scripture to mean that a person who is ashamed of Jesus Christ isn't really saved. That's a false doctrine.
Eternal life is a free gift and has nothing to do with whether one is ashamed or not. Romans 10:11 is actually a quote from Isaiah 28:16, “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.” In other words, if you trust upon the Lord you won't have to run away (make haste) in shame because He let you down. Romans 10:11 means the exact OPPOSITE of what most people think it means. This is why we must study to rightly divide the Word of God as 2nd Timothy 2:15 teaches. 2nd Timothy 2:15, “STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
No one has an excuse these days not to diligently STUDY God's Word as the Bible commands. Studying is not just for preachers and Christian workers, for if that were true, then it would mean that most people are supposed to simply believe what someone else tells them. Never blindly trust anyone in important matters.
The Bible says that the people who heard Paul's preaching at Thessalonica SEARCHED THE SCRIPTURES DAILY to verify what Paul was teaching to them. Acts 17:11: “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” I encourage my web visitors to do the same. Don't believe anything I say, but instead go check the information for yourself. I'm only a frail human being. I know for a fact that I've been wrong on numerous occasions, and I've had to edit information to make corrections. I assure you my friend that I don't have a single fault... that's right... I have MANY faults!
You can count on Jesus my friend. God is a promise-making and promise-keeping God. One thing that encourages me a lot about God is that He is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). The Bible repeatedly reminds us of this fact
(Acts 10:34; Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 3:25). In this wicked world there is constant favoritism, nepotism, bias and prejudice. Nothing is fair in man's world. I thank God, I thank God with all my heart, that He is no respecter of persons and cannot be bought-off with evil. The Bible plainly teaches that God will hold all mankind accountable, as individuals (Romans 14:10-12), on judgment day (Ecclesiastes 12:7,14), for even the wasted words they speak (Matthew 12:36).No good work will be unnoticed in the life of a Christian (Matthew 10:42), and no evil work will be unaccounted for (Colossians 3:25). But be forewarned if you are not a born-again Christian, all your good works will be FORGOTTEN by God if you die in your self-righteousness (Ezekiel 18:24).
