Commonly Corrupted Scriptures On Salvation
By David J. Stewart | October 2017
2nd Peter 3:16-17, “As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.”
I have received numerous letters from web visitors, asking me for my opinion on various commonly misinterpreted Scripture passages concerning salvation. I am always glad and eager to point people in the right direction. God is my pilot, not my copilot. I rely upon the Lord for everything, leaning not upon my own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” The most important thing in a believer's life is HUMILITY!!!
Thank you for the question. False prophets nearly always lift a passage of Scripture from the text, which always changes the context. Here is the truth my friend. Dan Corner is big-time false prophet at the website you mentioned. Mr. Corner is unsaved for certain, because he adds works to faith.
GALATIANS 6:6-8This passage is often errantly used to teach that a believer must persevere in holy living to have everlasting life...
Galatians 6:6-8, “Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
Galatians 6:8-14 (notice verses 12-24 which I have underlined, which plainly refutes works being added to faith for salvation)...
“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”
Paul rebuked the Galatians for tolerating a cult, which added circumcision to faith. Faith plus anything is a false plan of salvation. Paul pointed out to the Galatians that they who have been circumcised (the cult) hadn't keep the whole law, so if they were trying to keep it to be saved, they were failing at it. Dr. Max Younce addresses this topic in this excellent article...
Paul rebuked the Galatians for glorying in the flesh (i.e., the act of male circumcision). They had bought into a corrupt gospel. Paul said that instead, he gloried ONLY IN THE CROSS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!
See Galatians 3:1-3...“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth [THE GOSPEL], before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”
Matthew 10:22
Matthew 10:22, “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.”
Matthew chapter 24 parallels this end times chapter, which is ONLY about the 7-year Tribulation period. Notice carefully in Matthew 10, in the surrounding Scriptures, that the topic at hand is about persecution, not salvation. Clearly, those who endure to the end of the PERSECUTION during the Tribulation period shall be saved. Not one mention is made about eternal life here. Nearly all cults and false doctrines start by taking a single verse or passage of Scripture out of context.
The Gospel of John is God's Gospel tract. John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” The words “believe” and “believed” are mentioned 85 times in the book of John, but the word “repent” is not mentioned even once. The word “endureth” appears once in the Gospel of John, but has nothing to do with persevering to be saved (a Calvinist heresy). John 6:27, “Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” Lest someone should pervert the meaning of “labour” in this verse, we must consider John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” God wrote the Bible so that fools would always get it wrong, but those who truly want the truth would see it as clear as day. Luke 7:35, “But wisdom is justified of all her children.”
I'm sure you've seen these “magic eye” photos, which contain hidden images. I can only look at them for a short time, as they give my a headache. I've read that printed larger pictures work much better, but I was able to see the hidden images in these. The second one is really cool, with two hidden pyramids inside each other. These remind me of the Gospel hidden in the Word of God, amongst all the wrong interpretations which people often see. You can look right at the truth and totally miss it! ...What I shown you thus far speaks volumes against Dan Corner's false teachings of faith plus works to be “saved.”
Luke 13:23-24This passage is often errantly used to teach that a person must persevere in holy living to be saved in the end...
Luke 13:23-24, “Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”
The word “strive” does not refer to working to be saved, clearly refuted by John 6:28-29, which I quoted earlier. Proper Bible study requires ALWAYS taking into account the whole of Scripture, comparing verse with verse. If a suggested interpretation of a particular passage does not agree with all the other verses in the Bible, then you know you have the WRONG meaning. For example: Mark 16:16, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” It doesn't say he that is baptized not shall be damned. It says he that believeth not shall be damned. But if you take the first part of the verse by itself, you could lie and teach that water baptism is necessary to be saved. Paul said in 1st Corinthians 1:17b that “Christ sent me not to baptize.” There is no mention of baptism of any form in the Epistle of 1st John, which was written so that believers we “KNOW” that we are saved. Clearly, water baptism is NOT required to be saved. Kindly, Dan Corner is a dangerous man spiritually, on his way to the Lake of Fire if he doesn't repent of his unbelief.
Hebrews 6:4-6
This passage is often errantly used to teach that a believer can lose salvation...
Hebrews 6:4-6, “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”
Word of God can be tricky to interpret sometimes, which is intentionally how God authored it. The apostle Peter said that he had difficulty understanding some of Paul's writings (2nd Peter 3:16-17). These were original autographs of the Holy Bible. The popular claim that people cannot understand the King James Bible; and therefore, need an easier Bible to read is wrong. When ungodly people rewrite the Bible in terms that even an unsaved man can understand, it ceases to be the inspired words of God. The Lord fully intended for His words to be “hard to be understood” (2nd Peter 3:16). Many men butcher the Scriptures in an attempt to simplify it, but it is not possible. God knew what He was doing when He authored the Bible.
To understand the preceding passage of Scripture, please consider the following passage to compare...
Hebrews 10:26-29, "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth [THE GOSPEL], there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"
The Holy Bible is simply teaching that if a man rejects the Gospel, he has fallen from grace, for there is no other name given amongst men whereby we may be saved, than the precious name of Jesus of Nazareth (Acts 4:10-12).
Hebrews chapter 10 is not about backslidden Christians, it is about people who reject the Gospel. The Bible is a lot more simple than many religious people make it. Some people think too much, reading into the Scriptures what isn't there. Hebrews 10 is a perfect example of that. Notice Hebrews 10:38 above... "THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." And verse 39... "BUT OF THEM THAT BELIEVE TO THE SAVING OF THE SOUL." Clearly, the subject is a matter of BELIEVING to be saved. But if we just take verses 27-28 by themselves, it appears that living a life of sin causes a believer to lose their salvation, because “there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” What that really means is that if a person rejects the Gospel, there is no other way to be saved. Christ died on the cross for our sins, paying a debt that He did not owe, because we owed a debt (the wages of sin) that we could not pay. No one else in the universe has the nail-scared hands and nail-scared feet. No one else wore the crown of thorns for our sins. There is only one true Savior, Jesus Christ.
Galatians 5:4This passage is often errantly used to teach that a believer can lose salvation...
Galatians 5:4, “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”
When a believer sins (and we ALL do continually), we fall “IN GRACE,” never “FROM GRACE.” Romans 5:20 teaches that if we sin (and we all do), GRACE WILL MUCH MORE ABOUND. I love that truth. The blood of Jesus washed all our sins away the moment we were saved by faith. So there is no sin problem. Jesus took care of our sins on the cross. There is only a sinner problem. As long as we are in the flesh here on earth, we will struggle to live right, as did the apostle Paul (Romans 7:14-25).
Again, consider the words of the apostle Paul in Galatians 3:1-3...
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth [THE GOSPEL], before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”
Paul called the Galatians “FOOLISH”! You see, the professed believers at the church of Galatia bought into the lies of a local satanic cult, who taught that you must be circumcised to be saved. Under the Mosaic law, circumcision (surgical removal of the foreskin of males) was a ceremonial law. It was required for all male Jews, as a sign of separation from the world. All total there were roughly 720 moral, civil and ceremonial laws! To merit Heaven, a person was required to keep all 720 laws!!! Obviously that is impossible! Paul bears out this truth in Galatians 5:3, “For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.” Paul pointed out to the Galatians that if circumcision (a law) was required to be saved, then that was just one of hundreds of laws which needed to be kept. Clearly, NO ONE can keep ALL the laws!!! Paul was rebuking them, and trying to reason with them. Again, when a believer sins (and we ALL do continually), we fall “IN GRACE,” never “FROM GRACE.”
The person who rejects the Gospel, or renders it ineffective to save by adding something to it, has “FALLEN FROM GRACE,” in that they have missed their only bus going to Heaven. God's GRACE is the only way to be saved, through childlike faith in the cross of Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:20, “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” Romans 5:20-21, “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” This speaks of the imputed righteousness of God. Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” The Galatians had FALLEN FROM THE GOSPEL OF FREE GRACE, by succumbing to a “partial faith in Christ plus works” plan of salvation.
Thank you for reading this webpage. Satan cannot deceive the believer who rightly divides the word of truth.

“Anyone who thinks that he can find the errors in the AV (as Origen found them in the Hebrew Old Testament) and then, after correcting 64,000 of them (that is the number of changes found in the NIV and NASV), still cannot produce an inerrant 'Bible,' is not in anyone’s 'humility' bracket. They BOAST ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO CORRECT GOD ALMIGHTY.” —Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, “The Mythological Septuagint,” page 60

I am appalled at the indifference amongst professed Christians today concerning the corrupting of God's Word. They just don't care which Bible is God's Word. I'm talking about thousands of shameful apostate religious colleges today, that are INDIFFERENT toward the hundreds of perverted English Bibles, all of which are the Devil's way of depriving people of the true and pure Word of God. Consequently, there are many false plans of salvations being taught in the churches today, mainly the heresy of manmade repentance, aka, Lordship Salvation. Here is a truthful quote from Pastor Jack Hyles...
