The Best Way You Can Help
My Ministry,
is By Letting My Ministry Help You
By David J. Stewart | August 2017
2nd Corinthians 3:2, “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.”
Someone recently asked me what they could do to help my ministry. I always let such people know that I need their prayer, for starters. Prayer works, one way or another, prayer works! You're never wasting your time when you pray. Our God cares. 1st Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” You can pray for me, and also for this ministry.
Secondly, I ask people to help promote my ministry, so that more people can be reached with the truth. I don't make any money, never have, and never will from my labors for Christ. My full reward is in Heaven (Matthew 6:19-20; 1st Corinthians 3:8; Revelation 22:12). I encourage you to download MP3 sermons, burn them to disk, and share them with friends and co-workers who are having a tough time. Everyone needs Bible-preaching.
But thirdly, the greatest thing that you can do to help my ministry (which is really God's ministry that He has entrusted to me) is to let my ministry help you. The most precious testimonies that I have received, are from people who have been saved and are now working in their own ministries as a result of my labors.
One dear man wrote me this week, to let me know that he became a soul-winner after listening to Dr. Jack Hyles' classic sermon, “Four Calls To Soul Winning!” The man said he learned about that sermon through my website ministry, and he thanked me. He said that he has already led 100 people to Christ while door-to-door soulwinning in his area. That promoted me to convert the video by Dr. Hyles into an MP3 also, and to promote it. Those are my favorite types of testimonies, because it shows that my labors for the Lord are having an impact. Certainly, I rejoice when a web visitor testifies that they've trusted the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be saved, which they found at my ministry. Ah, but I rejoice even more when someone lets me know that now they're preaching the Gospel, and they've seen dozens of souls saved. In other words, if you give a man a fish you've fed him for a day, but if you teach him how to catch fish, you've fed him for a lifetime!!!
I definitely want and ask for your earnest prayers. I need prayer! I believe God answers prayer! I don't claim to understand how our great God works. We've all prayed at times and felt like we were wasting our time, because God didn't answer right away, or in the way that we expected. But I've learned in my Christian life that God works in mysterious ways, that is, behind the scenes, undetected, in such a way that we do not see what He is doing. In hindsight, God's hand is seen at work, not in weeks, months or even years, but in decades. It's not proper to pray and then place God on trial. Biblically, we ought to pray without ceasing, trusting our great God, regardless of what we see. Remember, we live BY FAITH and not by sight. 2nd Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” That means we ought to pray because God told us to.
Philippians 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Most believers pray, don't see any detectible results, and then quit. That is not faith. I'm going to keep praying, because God told me to. Carefully notice in Philippians 4:6-7 that we don't have “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding” because God answers our prayers; but rather, because WE PRAY!!! Once you place something into God's hands through prayer, it is His problem from that point on. I like that. That is exactly what the Bible is teaching us. Don't fret, worry and get boggled down with life's matters, take it all to the Lord in prayer throughout the day, and then claim the peace of God, knowing that you've placed the ball into his court. That's good preaching!!!
Folks, my ministry is here FOR YOU!!! I am here FOR YOU! God has entrusted me with this ministry to help OTHERS, to feed the Lord's sheep, contend for the faith, lift the fallen, stand against evil, and preach Glad Tidings to a lost and dying world. I AM A VOICE!!! (a classic MP3 sermon by Dr. Jack Hyles). The greatest thing that you can do to encourage me is to let my labors HELP YOU!
I want you to get saved by faith in the Gospel. I want you to abide in the King James Bible so God can transform you into the image of Jesus Christ. I want you to listen to lots of Bible-preaching, to help you think straight and inspire you to get busy serving God. I want you to get involved in a local New Testament church, where your life can be enriched and built up in the faith. I've had several people tell me that they cannot find a good church in their area, and I am their pastor for now. I am humbled to learn that. I want to feed the Lord's sheep.
That's why I promote so much fundamental Bible-preaching. Please listen to it. From looking at the statistics from time-to-time, hardly any of my web-visitors take advantage of the preaching. My heart yearns for you to love Bible-preaching as I do, so your life can be blessed by it. Preaching helps us to think right. I'm just a messed-up guy with a website helping messed-up people. The only people I know who are more messed-up than I am are the Bob Jones University crowd down the street from me, who cannot even figure out that God only wrote one Book! My life may be messed-up, but doctrinally I am right. Their lives are in order, but they're all messed-up doctrinally! Too bad we can't get together and help one another. They are too proud, set in their horrible ways. I have reached out to them multiple times with Christ's love, but they have unkindly shunned me away. They like things broken doctrinally. They like Dr. John MacArthur's perverted gospel message of salvation plus discipleship. They like Ravi Zacharias' vague, lame, ambiguous theology that addresses unsaved Mormons as saved brethren. They like Evangelist Ray Comfort's false gospel message of partial faith in Christ plus works.
Everyone needs a church family. Right now, I'm visiting local churches, until I can find a home. Lord willing, I hope to move back to the states in the years ahead, pending my health afflictions, and join a sound church. What we have on Guam is really sad, and pastors don't want spiritual help. Someone recently handed me a “Roman Road” booklet from a different local Baptist church (the Pensacola Christian College crowd), that made me sick. The booklet errantly said, that God won't save you unless you turn away from sinful living. That's is keeping the LAW to be saved, which the Scriptures forbid. Romans 3:20, “ Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” If a man has to stop breaking the Ten Commandments to be saved, then he is in part trying to save himself by obeying God's LAW. That is not the Gospel of free grace! That is not the free gift of God, which is eternal life (Romans 6:23). Galatians 2:21, “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
The local Bob Jones “church” (and I use the term loosely), like having 39 Bible versions circulating in their pews. The church officially uses the Easy To Read Version (ERV) and the King James Bible (KJB), using corruptible words to interpret incorruptible words. What a mess!!! But what they do for evil, God means for good, to save many people alive. My negative experience with the Bob Jones crowd here on Guam has compelled me to stand, fight and preach like never before, to proclaim the inspiration and exclusivity of the precious King James Bible, and to expose false prophets who teach Lordship Damnation instead of the Gospel of free grace, and to refute the heresy of Wrong Repentance, and to expose the Devil's modern Bible PERversions!!!
You can greatly bless me and my ministry friend, by helping me warn people about all these things. If you want to help me, let your family, friends and co-workers (not on company time) know about the dangers of the modern Bible versions. Warn them about Lordship Salvation. But you won't just be helping my ministry, you'll be helping THE LORD and you'll be laying up treasures in Heaven for YOURSELF. Amen! There's nothing wrong with having that selfish motive, for the Lord Himself said that in Matthew 6:19-20, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.” What Do You Labor For? (awesome MP3 sermon by Brother Lester Roloff).
I witnessed to a man yesterday in a local shopping mall. His name is Roe. He's been riding around on a bicycle for 32 years with a big sign that reads, “GOD BLESS YOU!” He wasn't saved, but I gave him the plain Gospel. He had never heard of “God's righteousness,” so I explained the doctrine of imputation to him. I like to call this, “THE GREAT TRANSFER.” That is, God the Father placed our sins upon His only begotten Son on the cross, and by faith God places His righteousness on us. This is imputation.
I get rewards too, if my ministry inspires you to serve God. Daniel 12:3, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” I don't know about you, but Daniel 12:3 gets me excited in the Lord!!! I have received so many beautiful e-mails from web-visitors who've been saved, their life changed, and they are now serving God by preaching the Gospel, because of my own humble labors in the Lord that influenced them. I've even had a few men who said they were saved and called to preach through my ministry, and are now either preparing for the pastorate or already pastoring. I receive many letters from around the world, which I cherish dearly. I sincerely believe the reason why God has given me a permanent thorn in the flesh (horrible chronic toothache-like pain in the bony area of the back of my neck since 2004) is to keep me humble, so that God could bless my work bountifully, and it would not puff up my pride. I am humble folks. I have been broken by life in so many ways. It is as if someone said: Lord take him, break him and make him! God cannot use a man in a mighty way until He first breaks that man. I have been broken. I know God is the Potter, and I am the clay. Jesus is precious!
We're living in a crazy world today. Things are messed up all over. We are all but dust, and the Lord understands that. I want God's best life for you now!!! If everything that I have said and promoted on my websites, doesn't bring you to saving-faith in Christ Jesus and a close walk with God that changes your life, and compels you to be a diligent soul-winner, then I have failed in my mission. What's the point if souls aren't saved and lives aren't changed? What good is my ministry if it doesn't result in God's inspired Holy Word and Holy Spirit changing YOU? So if you desire to help my ministry (which is really God's ministry, since He has done all this through me), start listening to the great Bible-preaching on my websites. Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord (James 4:6-10) and be willing to LET GOD CHANGE YOU. Push away that stinking pride that we all have at times, that refuses to budge. We should always be willing to move to the RIGHT (toward righteousness, truth and pleasing God), but never to the LEFT (toward sin, error and displeasing the Lord). That's why Dr. Jack Hyles went from tolerating different Bible versions in his early ministry, to standing for the exclusivity of the King James Bible in his latter ministry. He moved toward the RIGHT. How about you my friend? Which direction are you headed? I plan to go right, not left.
Start praying for God to work in your life, through you. I am just one man, a redeemed sinner saved by God's grace, a voice, but you are also a voice, and God can use you to do things for Him that I cannot so. There is a voice in God's choir that ONLY YOU can sing! There is something that God can do through you that no one else can do. Use your loss, pain and suffering to help OTHERS in the Lord. Someone needs your help. I have known numerous Christians who committed suicide. I always ponder all that they could have done for God, had they chose to live, to help other hurting people, instead of killing themselves. I do not judge them. We don't know what they individually felt and experienced. At times in my own life, my emotional pain has been so inexplicably bad that I wanted to die. My nightmares while sleeping were a relief from my actual life.
Unshakable Faith Comes from Having Your Faith Shaken
I even planned my own suicide a decade ago, but the Lord's love kept me from doing it. After my wife abandoned me in 2006 and my life fell apart, needing neck surgery, being alone, and a hostile work situation due to co-workers harassing me over my websites, I was overwhelmed with grief. I bought two barbeques and two bags of charcoal, to asphyxiate myself. I rented a home instead of an apartment, so I could have the utmost privacy to take my own life. Something inside said, “Just wait one more day and see what tomorrow brings.” Do you know what I did instead? I typed out Dr. Jack Hyles' complete book on “Exploring Prayer With Jack Hyles.” I diligently typed out all 50 chapters, one by one. The book wasn't online before that. I put it online.
Although things in my life didn't improve for a few more years, my strength in the Lord did grow, and I learned firsthand the depth of God's grace, love and mercy in the midst of a cruel, uncaring and ungodly world. As Brother Roloff says, “You'll never know Jesus is all you need, until Jesus is all that you have left.” Or as Brother Hyles says, “Unshakable faith comes from having your faith shaken.” I learned that firsthand. My own website ministry helped me as much as anyone, giving me a reason to keep going FOR OTHERS. It took my mind off of myself and my own problems. I do know what lasting emotional pain and inexplicable suffering feel like. I know what loneliness feels like. I have lived alone for the past 11 years since 2006, after my wife abandoned and divorced me. God sustains me. Psalms 27:1, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
The two greatest commandments in the Holy Bible are to love God and love our neighbor. As Brother Lester Roloff says, there's really just one commandment: TO LOVE! God knows that I do not hate anyone. I've been through too much personal pain and suffering to sink to the level of ever hating anyone. Hatred is for immature people, not mature saints in the Lord. There are things that I hate about people, but I love everyone with God's unconditional love. Brother Hyles is right: There's no reason for any person to ever stop loving anybody! GOD IS LOVE! (MP3 by Dr. Jack Hyles). A professed Christian who is unthankful, unkind, indifferent, mean and cold-hearted does not walk in the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25).
Proverb 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Do you know what that Bible verse means? It means to be careful what you allow your mind to dwell upon. We cannot stop sinful thoughts of lust, hate or pride from entering into our mind, but we certainly CAN decide how to process those thoughts. The Bible gives us the simple answer in 2nd Corinthians 10:5, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” If a sinful thought of hatred, stealing or lust comes into your mind, immediately captivate that thought and silently say to yourself, “No, I am going to please the Lord. I'd rather die than sin today!” I often quote Bible verses to myself, to help me live right. Psalms 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
I am sharing these truths with you to help you, as they have helped me. I love you in the Lord dear friend, whoever you may be. If you want to help my ministry, then I welcome your prayers. I welcome your effort to promote my ministry. I encourage you not to promote me, God forbid, but the sermons and truths from my ministry. That is what I mean when I say to promote my labors. I am not important. Just as John the Baptist (of whom I am named. My middle name is John) said in John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” I am nobody, but Jesus is everything!!! HEAR YE HIM!!! But the greatest thing you can do to help my ministry is to let my ministry help you. As I learned in Bible college—You don't use people to build your ministry, you use your ministry to build people! I like that truth a lot. The ministry is all about people helping people. We are all struggling sinners, who've all messed up at times in life, some more than others, but we all need each other. Do you know what a pastor really is? A pastor is a man (hopefully) who is not as messed up as the congregation. But he's messed up too! We're all messed up, because we're all filthy sinners. God said that in Romans 3:10-23. We've all gone out of the way. We've all gone astray. There is none good, no, not one! (Romans 3:10).
If nothing else friend (I am being your friend by telling you the truth), make sure that you are saved. We are saved simply by BELIEVING (TRUSTING) “THE GOSPEL” when we hear it preached!!! It is that simple to become a born-again believer. Satan has tricked most people into foolishly believing that getting saved requires more. If nothing else, I would be overjoyed to see you in Heaven with me one day in eternity. But I hope once you get saved, or if you are already saved, that you'll do all you can with the Lord's help to get as many people saved as possible, in the remaining brief time that we all have left on earth. James 4:14, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” Let's all get busy for God, instead of playing the game of church, and reach the lost for Christ. Every one will wise up eventually. What a tragedy that most people won't wise up until they end up burning in Hell, like the rich man in Luke 16:19-31. Why don't you get saved now, and live for God now, so you can have the peace of God now in your soul.
I Just Want to Praise My Precious Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ!
My life is still far from what I wish it was. I hope to get married one day to a prudent wife. I hope to become active in a good soul-winning church one day. I hope to buy a modest home one day. I hope to have a fairly big yard to call my own. But do you know what, I am happy in the Lord right now! I have glue coming up between my floor tiles. When typhoons come through, I have to go stay in a hotel, because my place floods completely. I have everything I own elevated on 4 x 4 boards. I have a 5-gallon bucket that catches rain in my bathroom, when it rains, which comes from the roof. But I'm happy in the Lord. I love Dr. Hyles precious MP3 sermon called, Learn To “Learn To Enjoy Where You Are, While You're On Your Way To Where You Are Going” (MP3 sermon by Dr. Hyles).
And another MP3 by Brother Hyles called, “Enjoy Your Troubles While You Can” (Dr. Hyles says: Rough times in the will of God are best times!). I'm not a college student anymore, I just turned 50 years old in March. God knows that I am not complaining about anything. I have plenty of food. I have a roof over my head, and 99% of it doesn't leak. I have throw-down floor rugs that I put over the gluey tiles. I make do with what I have. I have learned to be content, like the apostle Paul. Hey, good night, my name is written in Heaven!!! I am a child of the King!!! Whew! Whether Jesus comes back today or not, I'm going to be with Him at the end of this brief life. Ladies and gentleman, we have a good God!!! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!
Hey, I did just lose 68 pounds in 4 months. I made a video a couple months ago when I had lost 58 pounds. I've lost another 10 pounds since then. Praise the Lord. I prayed for two years for God to give me the desire to take care of myself. I weighed 147.8 pounds this morning on August 2nd. In early February of this year I weighed 215 pounds. Yikes! Wow! How did I do it? I finally got fed up of feeling and looking 8 months pregnant, and my type II diabetes getting worse. It comes down to mind over matter. If you want something bad enough, you will pay the necessary price to get it! I walked for a couple hours every day without fail. I fasted for a day or two every few days. But the bottom line is that I drastically reduced my calorie intake on a daily basis. That's the only way to lose weight. You cannot stop eating, but you can live on 1,000 calories a day. I lost weight quick because I walked a lot. I don't walk as much now, since I've reached my target way. I went walking yesterday, getting a little sunshine (but not too much). I have to make myself get out. Due to my constant neck pain, and sedating pain medications, I am a total homebody. My website ministry is perfect for my situation. I can work on it randomly, as my pain allows, and that is how I get things done.
Now that I have reached my dieting goal of 160-170 pounds (I extended it down to 150 pounds), I am carefully monitoring the scale. I'd rather die than gain all that horrible weight back!!! I'm at 147.8 right now, and want to maintain 145-155 pounds. When my weight creeps up, I fast for a day, like I did yesterday and am still doing today. I ate hardy the other day, eating to my heart's delight, and my weight went up to 157.8 pounds. So I only had a small bowl of Total cereal yesterday. Today, I only had a little leftover stir fried chicken egg noodle. It had broccoli, carrots, onions and broth. That was my breakfast. I ordered enough Vietnamese food the other day, at a favorite local restaurant, to last me for five days. I make sure to eat a BIG salad at least once every three days. I order three salads from the restaurant each time I go. Since I am unmarried, I have learned that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is NOT to cook for myself. I always overeat when I cook, mainly because the serving sizes are way too much for one person. I couldn't cook at home as cheaply as what it costs me to eat out. I actually save a lot of money eating out, and I like for somebody else to cook for me, since I live alone.
Your body needs different types of foods. When I'm really hungry, I eat a bag of Orville Redenbacher buttered microwave popcorn, which lets me eat a lot of food volume, but it only contains 300 calories. I only drink cold water. Obviously, you cannot live on popcorn. I try to eat a healthy balanced diet. I recently visited a local Baptist church and met a guest preacher from South Carolina. He must have weighed 400 pounds. What a poor testimony for any preacher! I am not judging that preacher, for we all have our weaknesses. Everyone loves to eat!!! I sure do! When the angels visited with Lot, they ate “a feast” the Bible says (Genesis 19:3). Angels eat, just as humans eat. We will eat in our new resurrected bodies, just as Jesus ate with His disciples on numerous occasions after raising up from the dead. I want to learn to cook great meals in Heaven, and invite all my friends over to eat together, and play musical instruments and sing songs together, talking about the Holy Bible and fellowship in the dear Lord.
I feel so much freer having lost 68 pounds. Think about all that extra weight, and a person's poor body having to lug it all around. That is another reason I lost so much weight, because a preacher that's obese indicates that he likely lacks discipline (or there could be medical reasons). I want to please the Lord in every way. I've messed up enough in my life, God deserves so much better, I don't want to let Him down anymore (but I know I will sometimes, because the flesh is weak - Romans 7:14-25). I have learned, as did Brother Lester Roloff, that you live the Christian life the same way that you are saved... BY FAITH!!!
Why There's A Hell (MP3 sermon by Pastor Danny Castle)
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God,
and that obey not
THE
GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ.” —2nd Thessalonians 1:8
