Beware Of Pastor Charles Stanley's Corrupt Gospel
By David J. Stewart | June 2019
1st John 4:1, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
The Bible warns us that “MANY FALSE PROPHETS” are gone out into the world. Pastor Charles Stanley is a dangerous false prophet, because he requires MORE to be saved than simple childlike faith in Christ. If you write to their ministry, they'll likely tell you that Dr. Stanley doesn't teach Lordship Salvation, but judge for yourself dear reader in the following teachings from their own website. Charles Stanley DOES IN FACT teach Lordship Salvation!!!
The following horrible information is from their IN TOUCH MINISTRIES website, based upon the corrupt New American Standard Bible (NASB) of heretics' Westcott and Hort. Carefully notice the age old BAIT AND SWITCH method of deception, in which they first talk about God's gift of eternal life, and how it cannot be earned by good works; but then they switch the message to being required to submit to Christ's Lordship to be saved, and also having to turn away from your old sinful lifestyle to be saved (which is manmade reformation, not divine regeneration). This is classic Satanic deception...
Salvation can be defined as the work of God’s grace by which He pardons our sins and bestows upon us the gift of eternal life. This means we are saved not by our works but by God’s love and undeserved favor.
When Jesus died, He paid our sin debt in full and opened the door for mankind to be saved. And while salvation is a gift from God, it’s not ours until we accept it. To do so, we must respond in the following ways:
Belief. Saving faith is trust in Jesus as the Son of God for forgiveness of sins and eternal life (1 John 5:13).
Submission. When we receive Jesus as our Savior, we are acknowledging that He is Lord (Rom. 10:9-10). This means He has the authority to guide and rule our life according to His will.
Repentance. If Christ is our Savior and Lord, then we must turn from our old sinful lifestyle, which previously ruled us (Acts 2:38). We now hate sin and have a new desire for righteousness. Although patterns from our old flesh nature sometimes resurface, each time we fall, we have the privilege of turning back to God for forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9).
Have you received God’s gift of salvation? If not, won’t you accept it today?

That sure sounds like the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation to me! I am so sick and tired of theological liars, who teach that you must DO SOMETHING if you've really received God's free gift of eternal life. If it's truly a “gift,” then you shouldn't have to do anything! Charles Stanley is a false prophet!!! He mandates a changed life, or else he says you're not saved. That is the Devil inspiring Mr. Stanley to say that, not the Holy Spirit.
Although it is certainly true that Jesus DOES become both our Savior and Lord, the moment that we receive Him as our personal Savior, that does not automatically mean we are going to obey Him as our Lord. There is a growth in grace process (1st Peter 2:2). We see this truth evidenced in Romans 12:1, where Paul is pleading with the Christians at Rome to surrender to Christ's Lordship. They were already saved. ...
Romans 12:1-3, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Pastor Bob Gray Sr. of Longview, Texas, gets repentance 100% correct, who says:
“Repentance means to change your mind—change your mind—change your mind about how you want to get to Heaven to what God says you've got to do to get to Heaven. If you've got to repent of all your sins, you're still headed for Hell tonight.” —Pastor Bob Gray, a quote from the awesome MP3 sermon, Why You Should Be A Part Of A Growing Church
Whatever changes need to be made in a new convert's life are God's department, as He convicts every believer, and they “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1st Peter 2:2). Lordship Salvationists confuse Salvation with Discipleship. They confuse Sonship with Fellowship. 1st John 1:6, “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.” In 1st John the topic is fellowship, not sonship. God accepts us “JUST AS I AM” for salvation. Anyone who receives 'THE GOSPEL' ('THE GOOD NEWS' of Jesus Christ crucified, buried and bodily risen) as full payment for their sins is saved immediately, irrevocably and eternally. Nothing more is required.
I am wearied with the greed of our generation. There is not a more corrupt business than that of religion. In Touch Ministries took in $95,320,511 in revenues in 2017. Their CEO got paid over $361,527.[1] Their damnation slumbereth not the Bible warns. ...
2nd Peter 2:1-3, “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”
Why does a ministry need to pay someone $361,527? Servants of Christ? No way! I absolutely cannot wait until Judgment Day, to see these people judged for what they do to take advantage of others in the Lord's name. The Bible is so right about MANY FALSE PROPHETS are gone out into the world (1st John 4:1). Charles Stanley is one of them! Beware of In Touch Ministries and their false Gospel of you MUST turn from your sinful bad habits if you are really saved garbage! So if a Christian man refuses to stop fornicating with his girlfriend, according to Charles Stanley he is not saved. That is exactly what he is teaching! That is NOT what the Holy Bible teaches (Judges 16:1).
Legendary Rock N' Roll singer, Elvis Presley (1935-1977), made no excuse for his faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. Elvis was quick to acknowledge that his faith was in Jesus, yet he lived a shameful life of fornication, adultery, rebellion and substance abuse (which ultimately killed him). The King died on his throne of a toilet! Elvis is a disgrace to America, but I firmly believe that he is in Heaven right now. Millions of born-again Christians in the world today are living in fornication, adultery, rebellion and substance abuse. Many of them are suffering in prison for committing crimes. Yet, they are all redeemed children of God whom Satan has sifted as wheat. God only had one Son without sin, Jesus. The Bible teaches that you can be saved in a moment of time, and then the life you live thereafter has absolutely nothing to do with whether you really got saved or not; but rather, reveals your degree of love for the Lord. John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
The Satanic Jehovah's Witness' religious cult share the same false beliefs with Lordship Salvationists (like Charles Stanley, Ray Comfort, John MacArthur, John Piper, R.C. Sproul, William Lane Craig, Joel Osteen, Steven Furtick, Paul Washer and countless others)—The SAME FALSE BELIEF that faith in Christ Jesus is insufficient alone to save a person. They talk out of both sides of their mouth. On one side of their mouth they say that eternal life is a free gift by God's grace; but on the other side they errantly say that a person must turn away from old sinful ways as part of receiving the free gift of God.
Here is a frightening comparison chart showing that Charles Stanley, Ray Comfort, Paul Washer and John MacArthur share the same doctrinal beliefs as hellbound Jehovah's Witnesses concerning God's plan of salvation for mankind...

Jehovah's Witnesses: So, what does "accepting" Jesus really mean? Is it a one-time act of faith, or is it a continuing way of life? Must our belief be strong enough to motivate us to action? John MacArthur: "Salvation isn't the result of an intellectual exercise. It comes from a life lived in obedience and service to Christ as revealed in the Scripture; it's the fruit of actions, not intentions. There's no room for passive spectators: words without actions are empty and futile...The life we live, not the words we speak, determines our eternal destiny" (Hard to Believe, p. 93). [emphasis added] Note: MacArthur has updated the preceding quote, alleging an error. Yet, the updated quote is even worse, stating:
MacArthur then attempts to explain his false plan of salvation. My friend, it is very easy to be saved, so easy in fact that 3,000 people got saved in one day in Acts 2:41. You don't have to give your life as Christ gave His life to be saved! If it were true, then salvation would be the result of partial faith in Christ plus human effort. |

Jehovah's Witnesses: We do not earn salvation by doing these things, for no human could ever do enough to merit such an astounding blessing. We are not worthy of this magnificent gift, though, if we fail to demonstrate our love and obedience by doing the things that the Bible says God and Christ want us to do. SOURCE: Lordship Salvationists Teach Same Doctrine As Jehovah's Witnesses
UNBELIEVABLE!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!
As with all false prophets, Lordship Salvationists and Jehovah's Witnesses place the BURDEN of sin upon the sinner's shoulder, requiring CHANGE as a prerequisite to being saved...
Thus, "accepting Christ" involves far more than just accepting the blessings that Jesus' superlative sacrifice offers. Obedience is required.

And check this out, John MacArthur and Mormons also share the same false view on repentance. In sharp contrast to the false plan of salvation put forth by Lordship Salvationists, SDA's, Mormons and JW's, the Holy Bible places all the BURDEN of our sins upon Jesus Christ. The dear Savior bore our sins upon the cross, so that we wouldn't have to go to Hell and pay for our own sins in the Lake of Fire forever. Forgiveness of sins and eternal life are free gifts that need only be received without obligation. Salvation is received, not achieved. We are saved by simply receiving Christ's sacrifice on the cross—His death, burial and resurrection from the dead the third day—as full-payment for our sins. JESUS PAID OUR SIN DEBT!!! JESUS IS OUR SIN PAYMENT!!!
Here are some important contrasts between the Biblical Gospel verses demonic Lordship Salvation...
Biblical Gospel Truth Lordship Salvation Heresy Burden of bearing our sins
rests solely upon Jesus ChristBurden to forsake sin is placed
upon the sinner to bearInstant salvation Salvation is a process Repentance means a change of mind Repentance means a change of lifestyle Based upon God's promises Based upon man's self-righteousness Rooted in God's love Rooted in man's obligation No strings attached Strings attached A free gift An earned reward Grace of God Works of man Christ saves ungodly by faith Christ saves self-righteous by works Beginning of growth in grace process Demands instant consecrated (changed life) Root of faith produces fruit Root + Fruit = False Gospel Saved by God's righteousness Saved by self-righteousness Salvation cannot be lost Salvation can be lost Word of God Based in Calvinism (John Calvin) Church at Corinth saved, but “carnal” and “babes in Christ” (1st Corinthians 3:1)
Church at Corinth unsaved due to ongoing sin Safe and secure by faith in Jesus Not safe and secure by faith in Jesus Jesus is Savior! Jesus is Lord! Easy to believe Hard to believe Children easy to be saved Children difficult to be saved Salvation received Salvation achieved Saints preserved Saints must persevere Exposes the religious cults Agrees with the religious cults sonship only sonship + discipleship Think about this friend... If God imputes (i.e., places Christ's righteousness upon our record) at the time of salvation, then why would we have to “continue on” in belief and repentance to have “true security” as Washer's teaches? That is works salvation! Clearly, Paul Washer is sincere, but sincerely corrupted and wrong in his teachings. Mr. Washer understands repentance unto salvation to mean a departure from the act of sin itself. And he says that anyone who doesn't depart from sin has never repented. This is the SAME exact heresy that Charles Stanley is teaching, which is NOT the Gospel of free grace by faith alone.
It is amazing how self-deceived these people are at IN TOUCH MINISTRIES, plainly teaching that salvation is the free gift of God which cannot be merited by works, and yet plainly teaching that without the human effort of turning away from old sinful habits you cannot be saved. Folks, that is a blatant and major contradiction. If you purchase your spouse a birthday gift, but then require them to behave a certain way to receive it, or to keep it, then it cannot truly be a gift. In fact, it is really a reward for their positive behavior modification to your satisfaction. A lot of people are being confused by this demonic doubt-speak from today's false prophets, just like Charles Stanley, who sinfully confuse the Gospel of free grace with commitment, discipleship, turning from sinful behavior, following Christ and the sanctification of the believer. Correct Bible theology is that God saves a man, and then the Holy Spirit changes him.
Paul Washer is tricky in his words. Although he speaks of “evidence” of salvation, he also plainly makes it clear that those “evidences” are a requirement for salvation. In effect, Washer has combined the FRUIT of a believer's faith (James 2:18-21) with the ROOT of a believer's faith (Romans 4:5-6). To do so is damnable heresy and a guaranteed ticket to Hell. The false doctrines of Lordship Salvation, Wrong Repentance, and the Perseverance of the Saints are foreign to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Both doctrines are rooted in works salvation.
Paul Washer is clearly a follower of John Calvin (1483-1546), who errantly taught that a believer will continue in faith and repentance as part of salvation. The dangerous mindset in all of Washer's teachings is that the convert is required to keep his salvation, which goes 100% contrary to the Biblical teaching that salvation is a NEW BIRTH, a miracle of God (John 1:12-13), a SECOND BIRTH, which cannot be undone. A person cannot be unborn physically. Likewise, the spiritual birth is also just as irreversible.
That is a false Gospel. In one statement Paul Washer says that we are saved by faith alone; but then in the next statement he subtly requires giving up one's sinful lifestyle to be saved. Washer says that repentance must precede faith to be valid. This is not faith alone as the Bible teaches. The Bible is clear that salvation is without works. Romans 4:5,6, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.”
According to Paul Washer's thinking the church congregation at Corinth wasn't saved, because they lived in horrible sin. Yet, Paul calls them “babes in Christ” in 1st Corinthians 3:1.
In Romans 12:1, Paul begged the believers at Rome to surrender their lives to God, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." They were saved, but they hadn't presented their bodies to God “a living sacrifice” yet.Look at the carnal church at Corinth! They were suing each other (1st Corinthians 6:6), eating meats offered to idols (1st Corinthians 8:12), allowing fornication within the church (1st Corinthians 5:1), showing up drunk at the Lord's Supper (1st Corinthians 11:21), et cetera. The carnal church at Corinth is proof that Lordship Salvation is a lie. I am not trying to justify believers who live in sin (Romans 3:31). I am simply saying that our salvation is not dependent upon giving up our sins. Charles Stanley is a lying false prophet!
Please see the excellent sermon: “Repentance and Salvation” (by Pastor Steven L. Anderson).
What is Biblical Repentance?
For a wonderful exegesis on repentance, please read the article, “The Great Meaning of 'METANOIA'”!
Pastor Harry A. Ironside (1876-1951) correctly understood repentance . . .
“Repentance is the very opposite of meritorious experience. It is the confession that one is utterly without merit, and if he is ever saved at all it can only be through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ, 'who gave himself a ransom for all.' Here is firm footing for the soul who realizes that all self-effort is but sinking sand. Christ alone is the Rock of our salvation.”
SOURCE: Harry A. Ironside; Except Ye Repent, pg. 36)
Clearly, Ironside taught a Free Grace view of the Gospel. Harry A. Ironside correctly recognized repentance as the confession that “one is utterly without merit” and that if one is “ever saved at all it can only be through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Salvation is without works of self-righteousness. Romans 4:5 plainly teaches that a man's faith is COUNTED for righteousness, i.e., the righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed to a sinner by faith in the Gospel.
“Repentance is the recognition of my sinnership — the owning before God that I am as vile as He has declared me to be in His holy Word.”
SOURCE: Except Ye Repent, by Dr. Harry Ironside, chapter 3.Now it is certainly possible for a person to accept the hope of salvation and still not be saved, because they failed to see themselves as a guilty sinner. Turning over a new leaf is false repentance, not the new birth. We see this evidence in the Bible with Judas. Matthew 27:3 tells us that Judas repented To be saved, a person must acknowledging being a guilty sinner in God's sight. This is far different than forsaking the sinful world and commit one's life to holy living. The latter is consecration, which most believers never grow to fulfil. This has nothing to do with salvation, which is the gift of God by faith in Christ's death, burial and resurrection. A gift is free for the taking, and can have no conditions or strings attached if it is a genuine gift. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Biblical repentance is the realization (change of mind) that I am a guilty sinner, which compels me to completely rest upon the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. There are only two ways to Heaven: either you must be completely sinless, perfect in every way, keeping God's law to the fullest; or you may rest completely in Jesus Christ by accepting His payment for your sins. Since no human being other than the sinless Lamb of God has ever been able to fully keep the law of God (Romans 3:23), then in fact there is only ONE WAY TO HEAVEN, and that is by God's righteousness through faith in His Son Christ Jesus! YOU ARE A SINNER! Unless you accept Christ's payment for your sins upon the cross, you will burn in Hell forever.
Jesus died on the cross for OUR SINS, He was buried, and He was bodily resurrected miraculously from the dead three days later. Christ ascended into Heaven with His literal shed blood and sprinkled that liquid blood upon the heavenly Mercy Seat to appease the wrath of the Father (Hebrews 9:12,24;12:24). The price of sin has been paid in full! Will you rest completely in Christ, or will you foolishly trust partially (which is not salvation) by adding forsaking the world, to stop sinning, make full surrender to Christ, declare “Jesus as Lord” and other false requirements to be saved? My friend, if you don't want to hear those horrifying words one day from the Lord's mouth... I NEVER KNEW YOU!... then you had better rest completely in Christ Who died upon the cross for your sins, was buried, and raised up from the dead.
Jesus' literal blood is sprinkled on the Mercy Seat in Heaven as payment for your sins. 1st Peter 1:18-19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
May I again quote the doctrinally sound words of Harry A. Ironside...
Dr. Ironside correctly recognized repentance as the confession that “one is utterly without merit” and that if one is “ever saved at all it can only be through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Salvation is without works of self-righteousness. Romans 4:5 plainly teaches that a man's faith is COUNTED for righteousness, i.e., the righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed to one's heavenly record by faith.
“Repentance is the recognition of my sinnership — the owning before God that I am as vile as He has declared me to be in His holy Word.”
SOURCE: Except Ye Repent, by Dr. Harry Ironside, chapter 3.
Here is one of the best quotes that I've found on repentance, by Dr. Harry A. Ironside:
“Which comes first, repentance or faith? In Scripture we read, 'Repent ye, and believe the gospel.' Yet we find true believers exhorted to 'repent, and do the first works.' So intimately are the two related that you cannot have one without the other. The man who believes God repents; the repentant soul puts his trust in the Lord when the Gospel is revealed to him. Theologians may wrangle over this, but the fact is, no man repents until the Holy Spirit produces repentance in his soul through the truth. No man believes the Gospel and rests in it for his own salvation until he has judged himself as a needy sinner before God. And this is repentance.” (Except Ye Repent, p. 16)
Also, Dr. Hal Lindsey has repentance Biblically correct, who states:
“Repentance, as it relates to Christ, means to change our minds about Him, who He is and what He's done to provide forgiveness, and deliverance from our sins. When we place faith in Jesus as having taken our place personally on the cross and borne the penalty due our sins, then we're automatically repenting, because we couldn't accept Him in this way without having to change or minds in some way concerning Him.” (From the Liberation of the Planet Earth, by Hal Lindsey. (p. 133).
There are two types of righteousnesses in the Bible: 1) God's IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS (through faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ); and, 2) PERSONAL RIGHTEOUSNESS (which is holy living). When God said He would spare Sodom if Abraham could find just TEN righteousness people, it meant BOTH imputed and personal righteousness. I believe God is looking for the same righteous people today in America. Sadly, each generation's churches produce fewer and fewer righteous people, as our nation wanders farther away from the inspired King James Bible. To the same degree that the modern counterfeit Bible versions are being adopted by the churches, to that same degree Wrong Repentance and Lordship Salvation is being taught, and people are being conned to live the Christian life without ever being born-again!!!
Woe unto the pastors! Jeremiah 12:10, “Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.” Today's vineyard-killing neo-evangelical pastors have taken away the key of knowledge, substituting the saving Gospel of free grace with Wrong Repentance (turning from sins) and Lordship Salvation (discipleship) to be saved. Have you believed a lie?
The Gospel + Faith = Salvation
All that God requires for salvation is that we receive Christ's death, burial and resurrection from the dead (three days later) as full-payment for our sins. Concerning salvation, “repentance” does NOT mean to cease from sinful bad habits, nor turn over a new leaf, nor make a full surrender to Christ, nor to forsake the world. A person may do all of these things and yet never have believe the Gospel at all. The Gospel is Good News to simply be believed; and not conditions to be achieved or met. Christ bore the heavy weight of our sins, so we wouldn't have to in the Lake of Fire. The Lord said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30).
To demand that lost sinners declare “Jesus is Lord” (as the perverted New International Version (NIV) of the Bible requires in Romans 10:9) is a false plan of salvation. If a person must surrender their life in lordship to Christ, and depart from every sinful bad habit formed over a lifetime to be saved, then how terrible and heavy is such a horrible burden!!! In sharp contrast, Jesus said His burden is light, because the Lord carried the heavy load of our sins upon Himself at Calvary. Our part in SALVATION is only to believe (trust) upon the name of Jesus. God does everything else.
Gospel + Faith = Salvation (Hebrews 4:2)
I don't know what the future holds, but I do know who holds the future. My friend, it is easy and simple to be saved. I'm not saying that anyone has God's permission to get saved and continue living in gross immorality. God forbid (Romans 3:31). What I am saying is that the Bible teaches salvation is without works, and a man's faith is counted in place of righteousness (Romans 4:5-6). And a good thing because we have no true righteousness (Isaiah 64:6). No amount of self-righteousness can atone for one's past sins (and we all have innumerable past sins). Even one sin is enough to condemn a person to the Lake of Fire forever (James 2:10).
That's why God sent His only begotten Son into the world to pay the debt incurred by our sins. Romans 6:23 teaches that the “wages” of our sins is death. Sin brings death (Romans 5:12). We all have to die the physical death (Hebrews 9:27), but we can escape the second death (Revelation 20:6; 21:8) because of Christ's precious blood sacrifice (1st Peter 1:18-19). We are saved by the blood. Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
