The Wicked “Family Baptist Church” In Pensacola
By David J. Stewart | June 2025
Romans 4:5-7, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.”
The deadly “Repent Of Your Sin” heresy has spread into most churches today, corrupting God's simple plan of salvation. Please beware of this lie of Satan!
I attended the Family Baptist Church from 2021 to 2025. It ate at my soul like cancer all that time, knowing that I was attending a church that is wrong on repentance; and therefore, the Gospel. I will NEVER, so long as I shall live by God's grace, attend another false church that is wrong on repentance. It is a big deal folks! Right doctrine matters. I am done settling for new evangelical cults, merely because I cannot find a better church to attend. From now on I will just stay home of I cannot find a doctrinally sound church concerning God's simple plan of salvation.
I am at the place in Pensacola where I am almost ready to agree with Michael P. Bowen, who says on page 115 in his book, "I NEVER KNEW YOU"...
According to many verses in the bible, especially those warnings God gave to us through Paul in the book of Galatians, you should never listen to anyone’s message that runs counter to the message given to us by Christ, and you should never attend a church where the pastor tells the flock that they must add works of discipleship to faith in Christ’s “finished work” as the way to enter heaven. That’s exactly the reason why I no longer attend any of the local churches in my current hometown. [emphasis added]
https://www.jesus-is-savior.com/BTP/i_never_knew_you.pdfSadly, it is almost impossible nowadays to find a good church to attend. The Family Baptist Church in Pensacola is corrupt in my opinion, pulling on the same rope as the Devil. Their incompetent pastor is Brad Moffett, a 38 year old whippersnapper who horribly slandered Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) on April 30th, 2025, when I met with him in his office. Brad called me into his office to confront me about my website ministry. In particular, he was upset that I preach against Christian ladies wearing pants in public. This was the article that upset him and evidently his wife, who wears pants in public. As a fundamentalist Bible preacher, I think that is a crying shame unto the Lord. Pastor Brad was 13 years old when Dr. Hyles went to Heaven in 2001, so what does he know? Brad's Smart Alecky father is no better.
Kindly said, they preach another gospel at Family Baptist Church. Nowhere does the inspired King James Bible say to “repent of your sins” to get to Heaven. Ungodly men added these words to God's simple plan of salvation. Proverbs 30:5-6, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” Pastors' Brad and Bobby Moffett are accursed according to the Holy Bible. That is exactly what the inspired Word of God teaches in Galatians 1:6-9. They are damnable false prophets who preach a counterfeit salvation message! Woe be unto the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola!!!
The entire Gospel of John never mentions the word “repent” even once, but you'll find the word “believe” mentioned 85 times. According to John 20:31, the Gospel of John is God's Gospel tract. John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
One of my favorite Bible teachers is Pastor Brad Strand. I recently purchased his 'The Strand Study Bible.' I love it so much that I bought FIVE of them (some new and some used)! Here is Brother Strand's commentary for our text passage from 2nd Corinthians 7:8...
Repentance may include “remorse” (made you sorry), but remorse is not repentance. If so, then Judas repented because he was remorseful over what he had done to Christ (Mt 27:3). You can weep over sin and even express great remorse, but until you “change your mind” as to who you are and who Christ is and agree with God (Mt 3:2), you have not repented biblically.
Repentance may include “sorrow” (you were made sorry), but sorrow for sin is not repentance. Hell is full or sorrow, but only for the consequences of sin. The rich man who died and went to Hell uttered not a word of sorrow for his sin, only sorrow for his pain (Lk 16:19-31). You can weep over sin and even express great regret, but until you “change your mind” as to who you are and who Christ is and agree with God, you have not repented biblically.
Repentance may include “conviction” (after a godly manner), but conviction is not repentance. If so, then Felix repented when he trembled before Paul (Acts 24:24-25). You may be convicted that you are a sinner and even admit that you are lost, but repentance is a two-sided coin. You not only have to “change your mind” as to who you are, you have to also “change your mind” as to who Christ is and call upon Him to be your Savior (Rom 10:9-13). Otherwise, you have not repented biblically.

Amen and amen! I am so thankful for Pastor Strand, that he is one of few preachers today who gets repentance correct. Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001), in a sermon titled “A Vote For Preaching,” spoke in this excerpt about the false gospel of Lordship Salvation which is unfortunately being preached from nearly every pulpit today. I love Pastor Hyles and thank God for him. RIGHT DOCTRINE MATTERS!!!
Shame on knuckleheads like Pastor Brad Moffett, and his rude father Bobby Moffett. They both still have a long way to go to improve how they treat people. It matters how we treat others. It really does! People just want to be loved. Sadly, me and my wife felt a woeful lack of Christ's love and compassion from leadership at Family Baptist Church. Conditional love is no love at all, it is the world's shallow love.
I started my Jesus-is-Savior.com website ministry back in April of 2002. It's hard to believe that 23 years have passed already. It seems like just yesterday. I have never taken a single penny from anyone for my diligent labors for Jesus Christ. My ministry is a labor of love for God, truth and people. Shame on any pastor who tampers with God's simple plan of salvation, by adding words which God did not put in the Scripture (Proverbs 30:5-6).
I have received thousands of ministry emails over the years. Many people have emailed me to share their painful experiences of being mistreated, ignored, shunned and abused by churches. I cannot count how many people have told me about wicked pastors who brushed them off, ignored them completely or deeply wounded them in some horrible way. I know that there are no perfect pastors or churches, but from my experience most of them couldn't care less about loving people, because they don't want to be perfect in the Lord. Tragically, 99% of pastors are in it for the INCOME, not the OUTCOME! That sadly includes most Baptist pastors today.
Over the years, I have found myself torn between my desire to be an active member of a loving church family, and my love for God that compels me to take a stand against false doctrine, false bibles, and false prophets in today's ungodly new evangelical churches. For the past 45 months I had been in between a rock and a hard place at the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola. It pricked at my soul like cancer, knowing that their church is doctrinally wrong to teach that you must “Repent of your sins” to get to Heaven, which is totally unbiblical. I dare you to show me such a requirement in the inspired King James Bible. You simply cannot dear reader.
I grew to love the people and the pastor and his family very much at Family Baptist Church. So, out of a sincere desire to have a church family I remained silent. The indwelling Holy Spirit caused me to cringe within my soul whenever I heard Pastor Brad Moffett promote hellbound infidels, namely: Ken Ham, John Calvin, John Piper, Billy Graham and Franklin Graham—all false prophets who preach the Devil's falsehood of Lordship Salvation.
When Pastor Brad criticized our mentor and hero of the faith Pastor Jack Hyles in April of 2025, he crossed the line. As I mentioned earlier, Brad falsely accused Dr. Hyles of having a sexually impure mind, because Dr. Hyles said in a sermon: “I don't have a dirty mind, I have a man's mind.” Men think differently than woman. That is an irrefutable fact. Pastor Brad foolishly denies this medical, psychological and biological fact of science. Brad was wrong to criticize Dr. Hyles' godly character.
Pastor Brad also wrongly accused Pastor Hyles of teaching things on sex and marriage that caused umpteen families at Hyles-Anderson College (HAC) and the First Baptist Church of Hammond (FBCH) to go into sexual immorality, divorce and shame. I attended HAC and FBCH for 8 years (1985-1993), and I never heard anything that even remotely could be considered ungodly advice on sex and marriage.
Regarding the pastor's wife, I think it is a shame that she wears pants in public. Proverbs 7:10, “And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.” King Solomon mentions the “attire of an harlot.” So, biblically, there are some types of clothing that are associated with a prostitute. What defines such “attire” is open to much speculation. No doubt most women nowadays would say that wearing pants is not the attire of a harlot, because they are shamefully following the low moral standards of the heathen world. In my humble thinking as a Bible preacher, I think pants on females definitely would be considered the clothing of a harlot. You couldn't have found a woman wearing pants in public in the year 1900. I firmly believe that it is a sin for Christian women to dress immodestly in public, based on 1st Timothy 2:9.
In my opinion, the pastors of the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola are running the church the way they want (into the ground), instead of the way that God wants it run. Any church that is wrong on the Gospel is accursed by God, which simply cannot be considered a true church. I didn't say that, God did in Galatians 1:6-9, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” You cannot show me anywhere in an inspired King James Bible where it teaches that you must “repent of your sins” to be saved! SHAME on the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola at 5454 W. Mobile Highway. They are pulling on the same rope as the Devil.
This is the dumbest generation of American people in history. There are not two gospels, there is only ONE GOSPEL according to Galatians 1:6-7. Either you must Repent of your sins to get to Heaven, or you do not, but it cannot be both. Over 95% of Baptist pastors who use such unbiblical terms as “repent of your sins” cannot even explain to you what it means. What does it even mean to “turn from your sin” or “repent of your sins” to be saved? Listen to me dear reader, NO ONE has ever turned from his or her sinning! NO ONE!!! Even the best Christians still sin continually (Romans 7:14-25). The truth is that Jesus came to die on a cross to pay our debt of sin, so that we could freely receive God's gift of eternal life, which is through faith alone in Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:9).
For the aforementioned reasons, I have never joined the Family Baptist Church.
RIGHT DOCTRINE MATTERS!
THE WAY WE TREAT PEOPLE MATTERS!
IT MATTERS WHAT WE SUPPORT!
Proverbs 12:17, “He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.” God knows that I am TELLING THE TRUTH! I am tired of being persecuted and shunned from wicked new evangelical churches because I befriended them (as a true friend does) with THE TRUTH, but they reject it (Hosea 4:6). PAYDAY SOMEDAY!
I didn't pick this fight, but I will fight the good fight of faith to honor my Savior. They drew first blood! All we wanted was to quietly attend their church, so that we could be a part of their family, which I did quietly as a complete gentleman and visitor for 45 months from 2021 to 2025. Unfortunately, Pastor Brad felt compelled to attack my website ministry in April of 2025, and criticize our friend and mentor of the faith Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001). That was very unwise of Pastor Brad. Even the Godfather knew that you always keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
I am as narrow-minded as the inspired Holy Bible. I actually feel relieved about all this, because now (by circumstances beyond our control). They drew first blood. I was a friend to them, but they stabbed me in the heart at Family Baptist Church. They stabbed us in the back by kicking us out of the church without even talking with us first. Dr. Hyles is the greatest Christian that I have ever known!!!
God knows my heart, that I do not hate anybody. I hate what God hates, evil (Psalms 97:10). I hate lying false prophets (Proverbs 6:19). God does not go along and honor corrupt pastors who do not understand repentance, so they change the Gospel in a wicked attempt to force sinners to stop living a lifestyle of sin. It simply doesn't work that way. You get saved by coming to the cross as a needy sinner, by faith taking God at His written Word to receive Christ's sacrifice as full payment for your sins, believing that He was buried, but then bodily raised up three days later from the dead (1st Corinthians 15:1-6).
Bobby Moffett falsely accused me of taking the Lord's name in vain because I said in one of my 11,000 website articles, “they are God damned reprobates at Bob Jones University.” I am simply saying what God said in Galatians 1:6-9. Anyone who preaches another gospel is accursed (damned) by God. People have been so conditioned by perverse American culture and Hollywood that they have no good sense anymore. Bob Jones University is damned by God for preaching the false gospel of Calvinism!
My wife nailed it. She said that the pastors at Family Baptist Church know that they are wrong, so they have to push their blame off onto me instead. She is absolutely right! Out of 11,000 web pages on my eight ministry websites, the worst thing they could find to condemn me was that I called false prophets damned by God! I said nothing wrong! If you think I am taking the Lord's name in vain, then you are wrong too! God's curse is upon Family Baptist Church for perverting the Gospel!!! I didn't say that, God Himself did in Galatians 1:9, “As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Pastor Curtis Hutson gets repentance 100% correct!
Then God gives you His gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit, who begins to work to change you over time (1st Peter 2:2; 2nd Peter 3:18). This changed life, if it emerges to be seen at all by others, will be the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25). This has NOTHING to do with repentance!!! Since we have a choice of walking in the flesh or the Spirit, we must understand that not all believers make the right choices. The world is full of carnal saints, whom no one would ever know is saved apart from a direct testimony from their mouth concerning Jesus Christ. If it weren't for the New Testament, we'd never know that Abraham's nephew Lot was saved. Only God and the individual knows if someone is saved. Repenting of one's sins has absolutely nothing to do with the new birth. You simply need to realize your need as a guilty sinner in God's sight (Romans 3:19-20).
I do not take it lightly to call any church “wicked,” but when a so-called “church” is wrong on God's simple plan of salvation, there is no room for compromise. The “repent of your sins” heresy to be saved is of the Devil. You cannot show me any such teaching in the Holy Bible. So then why do men preach it still? Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a gift for the guilty!
God knows my heart that I do not hate anybody. I hate what God commands me to hate as a Christian, which is to hate EVIL (Psalms 97:10). Me and Alice are deeply hurt that we were kicked out of the church that I attended for 45 months, and no one bothered to talk with us. That's not the Lord's way. So, in our humble opinion, they are wicked at Family Baptist Church.
I looked up the word “wicked” to make sure that I am using the correct word. It means: “Intensely or extremely bad or unpleasant in degree or quality.” Also, it can mean: “highly offensive; arousing aversion or disgust.” I think “wicked” is an appropriate word for how we feel about Family Baptist Church at this point, considering that we were kicked our without warning. And considering that they are supporting a pastor who is wrong on repentance; and therefore. the Gospel. And considering that there is no announced regularly scheduled door to door soulwinning for church members. And considering that the pastor's wife dresses (in our humble opinion) immodestly in public at times, setting a poor example to the other women and young girls in the church. And so much more. It certainly is not honoring to the Lord in our Christian thinking.
I have lived long enough at age 58 to know that most people only see what they want to see. Tyranny is rarely seen except by those who are oppressed by it. We were the ones who were rudely, and we think very wickedly, told never to return to Family Baptist Church on June 22nd, 2025. That is not the Christian way!
We never caused any trouble in the church. And it wasn't until Pastor Brad censured my website ministry and spoke evil of Pastor Jack Hyles on April 30th, 2025, that I started to post a few negative comments on Facebook about what he had done to hurt us, but I never once mentioned his name or the church prior to being kicked out of church. You just don't kick people out of a local church, especially without even bothering to talk with them first. Yes, we think it was wicked. Since the church loyally supports their pastor, they are part of the problem in our humble opinion. Thankfully the Lord hears our cries and He does care. Thank you for reading. Jesus is precious!!!
