Calvinist False Prophet Rolfe Barnard

By David J. Stewart | October 2017

Galatians 3:1-3, “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Heretic Pastor Rolfe Barnard (1904-1969) was a staunch follower of heretic John Calvin (1509-1564), a member of the heretic Reformed Baptists[1]. The teachings of John Calvin are commonly referred to as “Calvinism.” Calvinism is of the Devil, a works-based false plan of salvation which combines salvation with discipleship. In the Bible, these are two separate decisions. Anyone who receives Christ as their Savior, trusting the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus their only hope for Heaven is saved.

The Essence of Biblical Salvation According To Rolfe Barnard:

In the sermon excerpt below, Rolfe Barnard highlights the essence of “Biblical salvation” as opposed to the “false gospel decisional flattery” that was prevalent in his day and still is in ours. Do you believe this gospel that is a miraculous work of the Spirit of God making all things new instantaneously, dear reader? - For there is not another propagated by the written Word of God.

“My friends, coming to Christ, resting on Christ and turning from sin in full surrender to Christ is far different from deciding for Christ as your Saviour. Those who pervert the Gospel beg people to accept Jesus as their Saviour, and they will be saved. That is a lie out of hell, because it is not in the Bible. If a person does not surrender to Jesus Christ as your lord to rule and reign over you — why! — you are not saved! We also hear these words spoken by preachers who pervert the Gospel: 'Now sinners, God has done His part — the Devil wants you, and Christ wants you, and you have the deciding vote.' But, my friends, that is a lie out of Hell! Christ didn't just offer Himself for office. He is working now, He is on a throne now ruling and reigning as Prophet, Priest, and King. He does not stand by while we try to get people to decide for Him as the Gospel is proclaimed.

“He comes in the Spirit actively to draw men to Himself, and thus we preachers say that He is a Saviour for sinners. The Father and the Spirit draw sinners to Christ. Salvation is of the Lord. Thank God it is all in Christ. And to the question, 'What must I do to be saved?' And this is the question of questions. The Old Gospel replies, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." And then, somebody says, 'What does that mean?' The Old Gospel replies, 'It means knowing oneself to be a sinner and Christ who died for sinners. It means to abandon all self-righteousness and self-confidence, and cast yourself wholly upon Christ for pardon and peace. It means exchanging one's natural enmity and rebellion against God for a spirit of grateful submission to the will of Christ, through the renewing of one's heart by the Holy Ghost. It means God taking a sinner and making him a new creature in Christ.'” —Rolfe Barnard, (The Difference in the Old Gospel and the New Gospel) ...

What a fool! Mr. Barnard is teaching the satanic heresy of Lordship Salvation! I plead with you my dear friend to read the following passage of Scripture. Don't be conned by Rolfe Barnard's fancy religious words! The inspired words of God are our ONLY authority...

You don't get saved BY FAITH, and then perfect or prove your faith WITH WORKS!!! That was the dire sin of the corrupt church group at Galatia. They heard the apostle Paul preach the Gospel, but then after Paul left, a group of false prophets crept in who required circumcision to be saved. This was a false Gospel. Paul plainly asks them how they got saved... BY THE HEARING OF FAITH? Or was it BY THE DEEDS OF THE LAW? It cannot be both. Ladies and gentleman, we are saved by faith alone in the Gospel (Good News) of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Here is an excellent quote from Pastor Max D. Younce:

“He [God] did everything, so that you would have to do nothing, except receive it as a free gift! And God says, 'I love you so much that I gave My Son to pay for your sins. Will you believe it? And if you will (believe/trust, used interchangeably in the Bible), will you simply believe that Jesus Christ died for you? And God says, 'If you'll do that, I'll promise you on the authority of My Word, that you'll never perish, but you'll have everlasting life!'” —Pastor Max D. Younce, a quote from the Bible study titled, “SO GREAT SALVATION,” Part 7 | MP3's

The Evangelical Times praises Pastor Rolfe Barnard as God's choice to “preach the Gospel of grace,” but that is a lie of the Devil. Just like the satanic cult of Seventh-day Adventism, Mr. Barnard adds human effort to faith and PERVERTS the Gospel. Calvinism is NOT the Gospel!

Calvinism is rooted in self-righteous hypocrisy. My friend, if you are truly a born-again Christian, the ONLY difference between you and the vilest homosexual, murderous, disgusting, sinner in history is the precious blood of Jesus Christ that washed all your sins away!!! YOU ARE A DIRTY SINNER!!! I don't care how long you've been saved, or how good you may think you are living, the ONLY THING that makes you acceptable to God is the sin-cleansing precious blood of Jesus!!! Calvinists are self-righteous hypocrites!!!

Let me quote Rolfe Barnard (1904-1969) again if you missed his utter heresy:

“My friends, coming to Christ, resting on Christ and turning from sin in full surrender to Christ is far different from deciding for Christ as your Saviour. Those who pervert the Gospel beg people to accept Jesus as their Saviour, and they will be saved. That is a lie out of hell, because it is not in the Bible. If a person does not surrender to Jesus Christ as your lord to rule and reign over you — why! — you are not saved!” —Rolfe Barnard, (The Difference in the Old Gospel and the New Gospel) ...

LIAR!!! Mr. Rolfe is a bold-faced liar! You cannot show me even one verse in the Holy Bible that requires surrendering to Christ's Lordship to be saved. Samson was God's man, yet he went in unto a harlot (Judges 16:1). Noah was God's man, yet he got drunk in his tent (Genesis 9:21). David, the man after God's own heart, commit adultery and murder (2nd Samuel 11). None of these saints were surrendered to God. The Bible is filled with sinful saints.

The “Gift” of Eternal Life Does Not Require Surrendering for Christ to Rule Over You

Calvinists don't talk much about the “gift” of eternal life (Romans 6:23). If you must surrender to Christ as “Lord” to be saved, then salvation is no longer a “free gift” (Romans 5:15). It becomes a reward for the faithful, falsely mislabeled as “grace.”

The Gospel of John is God's Gospel tract. John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” The words “believe” and “believed” are mentioned 85 times in the book of John, but the word “repent” is not mentioned even once! That is because the man who believes has repented. Repentance is “a change of mind” toward God (Acts 20:21). Effectively, repentance is a man agreeing with God that he is a guilty sinner (Romans 3:19). No man has ever believed who didn't also repent. Since God doesn't mention “repentance” in His Gospel tract, neither should we. The apostle Paul didn't ask the Galatians if they had repented in Galatians 3:1-3; but rather, he asked them if they were saved “BY THE HEARING OF FAITH”? When you hear the truth of the Gospel preached, and you place your confidence in it, you are immediately and permanently born-again eternally. It is that simple to be saved!!!

The Hebrews in the Wilderness heard Moses preach the Gospel, but many of them didn't believe what they heard, so they went to Hell forever without Christ. Hebrews 4:2, “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” You get saved by placing your faith (trust) in the truth of the Gospel when you hear it preached. This has nothing to do with receiving Christ as one's Lord! Surrendering to Christ is a matter of discipleship. I meet quite a few professed believers with some strange ideas. A spoke with a 74-year-old man recently, who said that believers are not “disciples”; but rather, “ambassadors” for the Lord. He is wrong! Yes, we are all supposed to be “ambassadors” for Christ. 2nd Corinthians 5:20, “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.” But we are also Jesus' disciples. John 15:8, “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” One who follows Christ as a soul-winner, obeying the Lord's Great Commission to preach the Gospel, is His disciple (Matthew 28:19-20).

Please read Romans 12:, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Carefully take note that presenting our bodies a living sacrifice is not our “mandatory service” but rather, it is every believer's “reasonable service.” If surrendering to Christ's Lordship were mandatory for salvation, then the Scriptures would not call it our “reasonable service.” It would not be an option, but it is an option, which is why Paul is pleading with the believers at Rome to surrender their lives to live for God. You see, there are two major decisions that God wants every person to make in life. The first is to believe the Gospel and be saved. The second is for every believer to become a disciple of Christ.

Here is a very helpful quote contrasting salvation with discipleship by Dr. M.R. DeHaan (1891-1965)...

“There is a vast difference between coming to Jesus for salvation and coming after Jesus for service. Coming to Christ makes one a believer, while coming after Christ makes one a disciple. All believers are not disciples. To become a believer one accepts the invitation of the Gospel, to be a disciple one obeys the challenge to a life of dedicated service and separation. Salvation comes through the sacrifice of Christ; discipleship comes only by sacrifice of self and surrender to His call for devoted service. Salvation is free, but discipleship involves paying the price of a separated walk. Salvation can't be lost because it depends upon God's faithfulness, but discipleship can be lost because it depends upon our faithfulness.” —DeHaan, M. R. Hebrews. Zondervan Publishing House, 1959 (p. 117).

Calvinists have no right to speak of God's mercy and grace, while at the same time teaching that you must “surrender” your life to live for Christ to prove you're saved! I love what Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold said:

“'You can't tell me you can trust Christ as Savior, and then go out here and live like the Devil, and still go to Heaven!' Yes, I can tell you that! That's what the Bible says. If you don't come to the conclusion, that—Yes, you can trust Christ as your Savior and live like the Devil, and still go to Heaven when you die—you don't get grace, because that is the exact truth! That is the truth! I do not have to change my life! I don't have to stop one sin! You say, 'I've never heard a preacher say that.' You just heard one! And you listen to me—I want to live as holy and as godly as I possibly can. I am now 70 years old. I've been saved for 52 years. ... the only reason I'm going to Heaven is because, 52 years ago in a little living room, I accepted Christ as my Savior.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, a truthful quote from the awesome sermon, Calvinism And Grace Are NOT Compatible” | MP3.

We read in John 12:42-43, “Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” Did you read that? Many of the chief priests believed on Christ, so they were saved, but they “DID NOT CONFESS HIM.” And the Bible tells us why... because “THEY LOVED THE PRAISE OF MEN MORE THAN THE PRAISE OF GOD”!!! Clearly, they weren't surrendered to the Lord!!!

Satan Wants to Fit You With Glasses, But the Lord Wants to Open Your Eyes

The false teachings of Calvinists sounds good, nice and religious, juicy and loaded with pressure for sinners to reform and walk the narrow way of holiness; but this is NOT the Gospel of grace!!! In God's plan of salvation, you come as an UNGODLY SINNER or you don't get saved. You have absolutely no part in the salvation of your soul. Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith. God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved, He will only save those who are trusting to be saved. We are saved by submitting to God's righteousness, which is through faith in Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”

Like most false prophets, Pastor Rolfe Barnard sounds good, using lots of juicy religious terms, but he is NOT Biblical. Lordship Salvation is one of the best sounding heresies. Lordship Salvation Errors: Best Looking Heresy Ever! (an excellent MP3 sermon by Pastor Marc Monte).

I don't care if he's got a 'reverend' in front of his name. I don't care if he has a clerical collar on. I don't care what school he's been to. I am appalled at the indifference amongst professed Christians today concerning the corrupting of God's Word. They just don't care which Bible is God's Word. I'm talking about thousands of shameful apostate religious colleges today, that are INDIFFERENT toward the hundreds of perverted English Bibles, all of which are the Devil's way of depriving people of the true and pure Word of God. Consequently, there are many false plans of salvations being taught in the churches today, mainly the heresy of manmade repentance, aka, Lordship Salvation. Here is a truthful quote from Pastor Jack Hyles...

“God has a special rebuke, again and again and again in the Bible,
toward those people who keep their neutrality in the work of God!”
